It may cause gastric disturbances. At high doses and for chronic treatment, it can increase cholesterolaemia. It has an interesting action in stimulating non-specific immune processes, acting primarily on cellulomediated immunity.
The most important natural sources are: seafood, whole grains, eggs.
The main plant drug containing this metal is the cranberry.
